Painting your broken smile.

Painting your broken smile
and your smudged lipstick
some of the red between your teeth
you lick off, it, with your tongue
Painting the scar
slanting down your chin
you’ve been fighting again
Shouting, hidden between stairs
Outside, the metal bars
of your house
screaming your lungs out
about the nightmares
haunting, and I’m painting
behind the canvas
paint dripping down more
than being smeared on
the stretched course
of the cloth between
two wooden planks
You smile
pulling the kohl sideways
stretching the wrinkles
beneath your concealer.
Painting your broken smile
and your smudged lipstick
seems in place again.
